We offer our members and stakeholders in the sugarcane industry training materials covering Bonsucro's certification, our standards and their supporting documents.

Bonsucro Training

Learning and development are key to Bonsucro’s strategy as a learning organisation. We encourage our members, practitioners, and changemakers to take advantage of our variety of training opportunities on sugarcane sustainability. These training materials cover everything from the fundamentals of the Bonsucro Standards to the Bonsucro Calculator and Certification system. Please see our different training options below.

 

Bonsucro Production Standard v5.2

Please note: Bonsucro Production Standard v5.2 will be the sole Production Standard in effect from 2 December 2023.

You can access our training course on Bonsucro Production Standard v5.2, through the Bonsucro Training Platform.

The platform is home to training content on Bonsucro’s Standards, with Production Standard v5.2, and makes our training more interactive and accessible on both desktop and mobile. Follow the links to the training platform offered in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

You can use the platform to complete a course of 11 training modules on Bonsucro, our Production Standard v5.2 and its supporting documents, and the new Bonsucro Calculator. The course will take approximately four hours, but you can work through the content at your own pace. After completing this course, you will understand the content of Bonsucro Production Standard v5.2, and identify what you need to do to meet its requirements.

The course is available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The training modules include:

• Module 3: Introduction to the Bonsucro Calculator
• Module 4: Bonsucro supportive documents
• Module 5: Principle 1 – Assess and manage environmental, social & human rights risks
• Module 6: Principle 2 – Respect labour rights & occupational safety and health standards
• Module 7: Living Wage – Indicator 2.2.6
• Module 8: Principle 3 – Manage input, production, and processing efficiencies to enhance sustainability
• Module 9: Principle 4 – Actively manage biodiversity and ecosystem services
• Module 10: Principle 5 – Continuously improve other key areas of the business
• Module 11: Closing

We are also offering updates and qualification exams for lead auditors, scheme managers and training providers, and shall be in touch with the relevant bodies.

 


2022 08 Bonsucro Certification Documents – Clarifications

This module provides additional technical clarifications to members and auditors regarding a selection of indicators of the Bonsucro Production Standard v5.1, and specific sections of the Bonsucro Mass Balance Chain of Custody Standard v5.1 and the Bonsucro Certification Protocol V6.

Licensed Training Providers

Licensed Training Providers are also available to deliver training on the Bonsucro Certification System, the Production Standard and Bonsucro Calculator behalf of Bonsucro. Training Providers have been selected for their knowledge on the Bonsucro Certification System and technical knowledge of the sugarcane sector.

        Control Union Certifications is a worldwide certification body with a main focus on sustainability. We offer a one-stop-shop for a wide range of certification programs in agriculture, food, feed, forest products, textiles and bio energy. Our programs are managed in a decentralised way with accreditations that reduce dependency on any one authoritative body. Key focus areas of our certification programs are food safety, sustainability, recycling, footprint and social aspects.Due to its aim to increase the sustainability of the sugarcane market, Bonsucro is one of Control Union´s key certification programs. Control Union has been involved in the dissemination of and auditing against the Bonsucro Standard since its creation in 2011.

        Based on the knowledge acquired during this process, Control Union develops and conducts training sessions for companies interested in gaining knowledge on Bonsucro.
