Field Trip
Bonsucro will work with local producers to provide a ‘real world’ tour of the certification system. Provides a learning opportunity for those in the Qualification Training to hear from a mill team and/or following a gap audit showcasing the work a farm and/or mill has done that is already certified. The location of the field visit will be Ingenio Manuelita.
More About Manuelita Mill:
Sugarcane first arrived in Cali in 1540. Since then, its cultivation spread through the Cauca river basin. During the Colony, the production of panela, sugar and honey became an artisan industry, and remained so until the beginning of the twentieth century, when the modern plant of Ingenio Manuelita was built. In 1930 there were only three plantations in the Valle del Cauca: Manuelita, Providencia and Ríopaila. Today, the sugar industry has expanded, comprising 22 mills. Bonsucro is proud to announce that Ingenio Manuelita will be the field trip destination of Colombia Technical Week 2017.
